Reiki Therapy Explained.

Reiki healingWhat is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that was developed in Japan at the beginning of last century. The word Reiki means in Japanese “universal life energy”. It is non-invasive, can be used alongside allopathic medicine and has many benefits. It treats the person holistically, which meaning it treats the person physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In this manner the whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

It is a smart energy and goes where it is needed. As it is so pure, it will remove negative energy and energy blockages that prevent healing from taking place. It activates the body’s self-healing mechanisms and recharges the person’s energy. As mobile phones need recharging from times to times, our bodies are also depleted from their own energy and Reiki will charge the “body’s battery”. People often feel an increase in their energy levels after treatment.
Reiki practitioners and clients come from different cultural and religious background. Reiki does not distinguish between races, religions, social classes, etc. It is pure and loving and can be used on people of all ages and animals.

How is Reiki given?

The receiver remains fully clothed and can sit on a chair or lay down on a couch, wherever the receiver feels more comfortable. People with mobility issues normally prefer to be treated from a sitting down position. The practitioner then gently places their hand on the main seven chakras/energy centres and other places that require treatment (with the consent of the receiver. Practitioners are not allowed to touch anyone inappropriately) or near the body of the receiver and connects to the energy. The energy flows through the hands of the practitioner and is passed to the receiver. The practitioner is only a channel to transmit the energy. In comparison to other energy healing systems in which practitioners use their own energy to treat people, Reiki practitioners do not use their own energy and instead channel the universal energy. This energy is pure and healing.

So what can it be used for?

Due to its relaxing and pain killing properties Reiki has been proven to have good results when treating different ailments. Here are some examples:
• Stress, Anxiety, Panic attacks, Depression
• Cancer
• Arthritis
• Back pain
• Tendonitis
• Digestive issues
• Male and female reproduction organs
